There are no charges for consumer debit cards such as Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit and Maestro.

From 13 January 2018, the EU’s Payment Services Directive (PSD2) prevents retailers from passing on card charges to consumers. The interchange rate charged by Mastercard and Visa for processing payments using consumer debit cards is small enough to be included in our exchange rates.

However, the much larger interchange fee charged by Mastercard, Visa and Amex for consumer credit cards would require us to significantly reduce our exchange rates. As most card issuers also charge cash advance fees for buying foreign currency via a credit card, we have decided not to accept credit cards.

Some debit cards may also attract an additional cash advance fee for purchasing foreign currency - please check your terms and conditions before you buy. These fees are not included in our charges.
