Why can’t I pay with a credit card?

Back in January 2019, the EU introduced new rules to outlaw the charging of card fees to consumers. Which means that retailers have to incorporate card fees into their product costings. So if we wanted to accept credit cards, all customers (even if they weren't using a credit card) would have to pay at least 0.9% more to cover the bank interchange fees. We thought that was unfair for the vast majority of customers who want to pay by debit card, where the bank interchange fees are just 0.2%. As a result we are unable to accept consumer credit cards (although you can use a corporate credit card as these rules don't apply and you pay the card fee separately).
